Who Am I? | An Introduction to Elm

Hello everyone!

My name is Elm – well, it isn’t actually; I’m an anonymous blogger who writes about her life on the Internet. Now, that portfolio includes being part of the Youngblood Writers! Excuse me while I sob from happiness.

Who am I really? As I said, I go by Elm. I’m 18, live in England, have been very blind since pretty much birth and I adore writing. You can find me frequently howling over books, blinking in confusion over things people have said to me because it takes me a while to process things and then putting thoughts to keyboard (because I don’t write with a pen except to sign my name, badly) to talk about it. I’ve been blogging for just over 3 years which is… How did I do that?

I may not be the most interesting person but I can admit that. Maybe, through this blog, I can start to expand my thoughts more! Bare with me πŸ˜€

What can you expect from me on this blog? Well, I don’t quite know what I’ll be writing about yet. I want to give my opinions on a range of topics, to share my voice in a whole host of other talented voices. I’d love to spread awareness about disability and mental health and the struggles of growing up in a society that doesn’t always listen to you.

The reason I’m so excited about this blog is because it’s bringing so many people together. Throughout my time here, the community has been the best part of my experience, always providing support and love when I and others need it. I’ve seen friendships form from across the world and with people who hold totally different world views: it’s brilliant. This is a place where people can share their thoughts openly.

I honestly can’t wait to write more on here and to be part of this fabulous team *huge jazz hands* I’d be dancing around my room but unfortunately, dancing isn’t my strong suit and I’d just look like a robot. Spoiler alert – I actually am one.

So, welcome to my rambling and strange style of writing, complete with shriekings about any topic under the sun. I hope you enjoy my contributions and if you want to hear more from me (why you would, I don’t know!) then my links are at the bottom of this post. Working with such brilliant writers on this blog is a dream and I want to send a huge thank you to Ally for allowing me to be a part of this!

    1. I use VoiceOver on the iPhone πŸ™‚ it’s a kind of screen reading software but I write my post out on a special computer that I have. I then use my phone to post it. If you want to know more, just let me know!
